For its first participation in Ceramic Art Fair + Glass, Galerie Negropontes takes over the Salon Neruda at the Maison de l’Amérique latine with a presentation dedicated to ceramics and glass, conceived as a dialogue between earth, light, colour and material. Sculptures, art objects, limited editions and unique pieces form a varied landscape in which exceptional craftsmanship meets artistic experimentation and contemporary creation.
The selection will bring together works by Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman, Maison Matisse, Jean-Christophe Malaval, Linda Ouhbi, Benjamin Poulanges, Xiao Fan Ru, Christian Pellizzari & Salviati, and Perrin & Perrin. The creations of Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman bring an interdisciplinary approach to the presentation, at the crossroads of haute couture, design, art and rare objects. Through their embroidered birds and their gilded or stitched vases, adorned with ceramic tubes, glass beads, slate and metal threads, the duo makes ceramics the starting point for assemblages in which stitching, ornament and the memory of materials transform each object into a precious, poetic and quietly theatrical piece. The vases produced by Maison Matisse carry forward Henri Matisse’s legacy through collaborations with leading designers, including Alessandro Mendini and Jaime Hayon. Colour, light, pattern and form become the elements of a reinvented decorative language. Linda Ouhbi handcrafts stoneware works using modelling and flat-coil techniques, embracing a slow, meditative process. The glazes she formulates herself lend her pieces a mineral, almost archaeological presence. Presenting a ceramic bust with deliberately undefined features, Benjamin Poulanges conjures a mysterious presence, somewhere between apparition and memory, which each viewer is free to imbue with their own narrative. Galerie Negropontes will also present Xiao Fan Ru for the first time, with three Buddhist figures made from porcelain, antique ceramics and glass. These works depict characters that are both meditative and mischievous, bringing the heritage of Chinese porcelain into dialogue with a floral, contemporary imagination. Glass also occupies a central place in this presentation. With the Nature Rebirth chandelier, born of a collaboration between Christian Pellizzari, Salviati and Galerie Negropontes, Venetian glass becomes the medium for an organic, luminous rebirth, bringing together the ancestral craftsmanship of Murano and a contemporary vision of nature in metamorphosis. With Perrin & Perrin, glass becomes a sculptural material shaped by two pairs of hands and permeated by colour and light. Martine and Jacki Perrin create works with distinctive lines, exploring transparency, porosity and depth to evoke an almost mineral presence.
At the Salon Neruda, Galerie Negropontes imagines a presentation in which material—glass, porcelain and ceramics—is placed entirely at the service of the artwork. The selection strikes a harmonious balance between artisanal mastery and contemporary expression, carried by the mineral qualities, transparency and colour of the materials.
