For its debut at Ceramic Art Fair + Glass, Galerie Negropontes presents an exhibition dedicated to ceramics and glass in the Salon Neruda at the Maison de l’Amérique latine, conceived as a dialogue between earth, light, colour and matter. Sculptures, art objects, limited editions and unique pieces form a varied landscape where exceptional craftsmanship meets artistic exploration and contemporary creation.
The selection will bring together works by Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman, Maison Matisse, Linda Ouhbi, Benjamin Poulanges, Xiao Fan Ru, Christian Pellizzari & Salviati, and Perrin & Perrin.
The creations of Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman bring a cross-disciplinary approach to the exhibition, at the intersection of haute couture, design, art and rare objects. Through their embroidered birds and their vases, gilded, stitched or adorned with ceramic tubes, glass beads, slate and metal wire, the duo makes ceramics the starting point for assemblages in which couture, ornament and the memory of materials transform the object into a precious, poetic and quietly theatrical piece.
The vases produced by Maison Matisse carry forward Henri Matisse’s legacy through collaborations with leading designers, including Alessandro Mendini and Jaime Hayon. Colour, light, pattern and form become the elements of a reinvented decorative language.
Linda Ouhbi shapes her stoneware works by hand, using modelling and flat-coiling techniques at a slow, meditative pace. Her glazes, which she formulates herself, give her pieces a mineral, almost archaeological presence.
With a ceramic bust whose features are deliberately undefined, Benjamin Poulanges conjures a mysterious presence, poised between apparition and memory, which each viewer is free to imbue with their own narrative.
Galerie Negropontes will also present works by Xiao Fan Ru for the first time, with three Buddhist figures in porcelain, antique ceramics and glass. These works depict characters that are both meditative and mischievous, bringing the heritage of Chinese porcelain into dialogue with a floral, contemporary imagination.
Glass, meanwhile, occupies a central place in this presentation. With the Nature Rebirth chandelier, born of a collaboration between Christian Pellizzari, Salviati and Galerie Negropontes, Venetian glass becomes the medium for an organic, luminous rebirth, bringing together Murano’s age-old craftsmanship and a contemporary vision of nature in metamorphosis.
With Perrin & Perrin, glass becomes a sculptural material shaped by four hands, permeated by colour and light. Martine and Jacki Perrin create works with distinctive lines, playing with transparency, porosity and depth to evoke an almost mineral presence.
At the Salon Neruda, Galerie Negropontes envisions an exhibition in which matter — glass, porcelain, ceramics — is placed entirely at the service of the artwork. The selection strikes a careful balance between artisanal mastery and contemporary expression, sustained by the materials’ mineral qualities, transparency and colour.
