Maurizio Galante I Tal Lancman – Haute couture, design, art

From June 13, 2026, to January 3, 2027, the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Calais jointly present “Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman: Haute Couture, Design, Art.” Spanning two venues, this exhibition showcases the multifaceted body of work created by a duo whose practice explores a wide range of artistic disciplines with curiosity, wit, and delicacy. The Haute Couture garments designed by Maurizio Galante since the 1990s, together with the art and design objects conceived and developed with his associate Tal Lancman since 2003, shape a remarkable universe inhabited by forms and textures that engage our senses and stir our emotions.

Guided by a sense of wonder, Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman cast playful gazes upon a world full of surprises, revealing—with precision and generosity—its unsuspected qualities. Each of their creations is a true “conversation piece” in every sense of the term: born from creative dialogues between different fields of expertise whose applications they continually reinvent, these intriguing works invite exchange and foster an atmosphere of complicity and friendship. The spirit of Haute Couture permeates their practice as an obvious and constant quest for excellence and innovation. Here, the arts of sewing, weaving, and embroidery transcend the textile realm to embrace all materials. Feathers, beads, ceramics, straw, lace, textured silks, metal, glass, and leather are transformed and elevated. They become vibrant, animated elements, turning garments and objects into living sculptures—true “objects of desire.”
