Mircea Cantor – Constellations of Antiquity
2026
Rome
From 10 July to 27 September 2026, Palazzo Altemps in Rome presents Mircea Cantor: Constellations of Antiquity. Curated by Pier Paolo Pancotto and Federica Rinaldi, the exhibition is the result of a collaboration with the Romanian Academy and the Romanian Cultural Institute, under the patronage of the Embassy of Romania in Italy, and in partnership with the National Museum of Romanian History in Bucharest.
The exhibition is conceived as a site-specific intervention that establishes a dialogue between the language of contemporary art and the collection of ancient sculptures housed at Palazzo Altemps. The exhibition unfolds through fifteen works, some newly created and others drawn from the artist’s existing body of work, with the aim of exploring key themes that recur throughout Cantor’s practice, particularly the relationship between memory and the present, understood as a continuous dialogue with history, material culture, and everyday experience.
