MUSÉE DU VERRE
CHARLEROI

Martine and Jacki Perrin have built their life and work together since 1967. The early direction of their practice led them toward ceramics and calligraphy, which they studied under the Korean artist Ung No Lee. It was in the 1990s that they developed an interest in glass. And starting in 1998, they frequently taught at the Sars-Poterie summer glass universities. Their works reference calligraphy, poetry, and music. Through the play of light and transparency in these scriptural and musical constructions, they analyze gesture, celebrate life, and question the passage of time.

In 2009, their artistic career was crowned with the honorary distinction of Chevaliers of the Order of Arts and Letters. Their works are included in the permanent collections of major institutions: the MusVerre in Sars-Poterie (France), the MUDAC in Lausanne (Switzerland), and the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris (France). This remarkable trajectory and their deep, intimate relationship with glass fully warranted a dedicated focus at the Musée du Verre.

Starting on November 29, the public will discover a selection of nearly thirty works by these exceptional artists, including the presentation of the installation X-Press, acquired in 2017 by the City of Charleroi for the Musée du Verre.
