BRÂNCUȘI MONUMENTAL TÂRGU JIU
2026
Paris
Exhibition of photographs by Mircea Cantor and Dan Er. Grigorescu on the exterior walls of the Hôtel de Béhague, Residence of Romania in France
A project in which two artistic perspectives echo one another through black-and-white and color photographs of Brâncuși’s monumental ensemble, revealing dialogues, rhythms, and resonances.
The monumental ensemble of Târgu Jiu, conceived by Constantin Brâncuși and inaugurated in 1938, connects sculpture and landscape in a symbolic pathway dedicated to memory, love, and infinity. Located at the heart of the city, it is today part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
Dan Er. Grigorescu (1917, Romania – 1990, Paris) was a Romanian photographer and the author of numerous books. In 1982, he took part in the Venice Biennale, where his photographs of Brâncuși’s works were exhibited in the Romanian Pavilion.
Mircea Cantor (born 1977, Romania), winner of the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2011, is a contemporary artist whose polymorphous practice explores visual poetry, borders, and freedom through film, drawing, installation, and performance.
