Etienne Moyat’s creations are imbued with his deep respect and love for nature. Trained as a cabinetmaker, he produces unique and monumental pieces for high-end projects including private residences, hotels, and yachts. He works directly from trees: after sketching a design, he sculpts, burns, brushes, and varnishes the wood—above all, paying tribute to it as a living material, a conduit for emotion and experience. Paradoxically, his use of a chainsaw as his preferred tool allows for a free and instinctive gesture. His work, intimately connected to time and movement, inhabits space with fluid lines of energy.
Alongside his sculptural practice, Étienne Moyat also pursues an intense and instinctive pictorial exploration, approached with great freedom of gesture and emotion. Inspired by movements such as abstract expressionism, neo-expressionism, and primitivism, he works on large-scale canvases with a spontaneous approach. Bold colors, thick layers, rhythmic compositions—his painting becomes a space for sensory exploration and deep, instinctual breath.
